New Design in the Breastplate of Aaron Series

Last week I listed several new pieces listed at my Etsy shop, Heavenly City Jewelry!

This first one was more than a year in the making: I developed this idea as the second in a series  highlighting the precious gemstones in the Breastplate of Aaron, Exodus 28:17-22. The plan is to eventually design a piece for each of the gemstones:

Carnelian, Emerald, Topaz, Carbuncle, Sapphire, Beryl, Jacinth, Agate, Amethyst, Chrysolite, Onyx, and Jasper.
The first one I made in 2012 and it was made of Picasso jasper, it was stunning, and it has been sold. The second one is this, the beryl:

The pendant is a faceted genuine blue beryl teardrop hand-wrapped with sterling silver wire. All beads are genuine blue beryl and all findings are Sterling silver. Photographs do not really capture the luminous quality of these translucent stones; the pale blue light they transmit is simply breathtaking. $120.00.

I Am the Vine - Back in Stock!

As many of my fans know, the new "I am the Vine" necklace sold almost the instant it was listed.

It turned out that my original sources for the sterling silver components no longer carry the needed parts, but after much research I found a new supplier for the components of this stunning, exquisitely handmade piece! I have been able to make an additinal necklace for sale and have the parts on hand to make another.

New Release in the Breastplate of Aaron Series

Introducing a new release in the Breastplate of Aaron Series! 

This carnelian set is the second creation in the Breastplate of Aaron series, which is a series of sets incorporating different stones mentioned in the Biblical passage from Exodus.

 

Carnelian and hand-wrapped sterling silver necklace - $80

A stunning carnelian pendant, hand-wrapped in sterling silver wire, hangs from a necklace of matching 6mm round carnelian beads. All spacer beads and findings are sterling silver and the beads are strung with strong jeweler’s wire using the finest craftsmanship. The total length of the pendant (with bail) is 2 3/4", and the necklace is 18" long.

This piece really shows the beauty of the carnelian stone. Ranging from dark red to light orange, carnelian can be streaked with other colors or solid in appearance.

Carnelian appears several times in the bible, notably in the passage on the Heavenly City in the Book of Revelation. However, it is also listed as one of the nine stones in the priestly Breastplate of Aaron in the Book of exodus:

"Call all the skilled workers to whom I have given ability, and tell them to make Aaron's clothes, so that he may be dedicated as a priest in my service.
Tell them to make a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, an embroidered shirt, a turban, and a sash. They are to make these priestly garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that they can serve me as priests.
You shall make a breastpiece of judgment, in skilled work. It is to be made of the same materials as the ephod and with similar embroidery. It is to be square and folded double, 9 inches long and 9 inches wide. Mount four rows of precious stones on it; in the first row mount a ruby, a topaz, and a garnet; in the second row, an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond; in the third row, a turquoise, an agate, and an amethyst; and in the fourth row, a beryl, a carnelian, and a jasper…”

Introducing the Breastplate of Aaron Series!

These amazing beads really show the incredible versatility of the jasper stone. Jasper comes in just about every color you can imagine, in various patterns and styles. This variety, known as Picasso jasper, is lined with beautiful veins and is very colorful.
